Comments and feedback from 2009

What a great group of people! When I spoke with Tom and decided to come down, I only knew him from 40 years ago and my wife, Norma, knew no one. Y’all made us feel at home and among friends immediately. The party at Hal and Karen’s and the banquet were both great and the time on the beach was fun too. Thank y’all for the great time. Now that Norma and I are members, we look forward to seeing you all again….and, hopefully, sooner than the next reunion!

Hi guys, I just want to say thanks for the invite this past weekend, I only wish we could have participated in a few more things and hung out on the beach a little longer. I had fun seeing you all in the water Saturday and Monday. Francisca, aka Kika, and I are looking forward to next year.

Cheers,

To the Board of Directors of the Carolina Coast Surf Club,
It was nice to meet such a great group of people that love surfing. I would like to let you know this was the best surf weekend that I had since I was a teenager. It brought back many good memories of years past and has motivated me to surf more in the future. The best part of the surf reunion was meeting and surfing with others that enjoy the waves.

Laura and I had such a wonderful weekend meeting so many new people—and we got to spend so much time together during the three days, that we actually feel like friends.
My one concern in joining the club was that it might be cliquish and exclusive.  To the contrary, this is the nicest, most inclusive group of folks I have met in a long time.  You made us feel so welcome.  You opened your homes and your hearts to us in an unprecedented way, and we just want to say “thank you” to everyone.  (I could start naming names, but I would leave someone out—and I do not want to do that.)
Furthermore, we have already been enriched by the networking process.  We would never have known about Aguadilla and Rincon, Puerto Rico if we had not met Adam the first night at Hal and Karen’s house and had it come up in conversation.  And now—just a couple months later—we have been there and surfed there.  I look forward to someday going on a “surfari” with some of the club members.  (That is the only thing that would have made PR a better trip.)  I continue to dream and drool over the Nosara, Costa Rica site that I have learned about from you.
But right here at IOP in the good old US of A, it was great fun for me to actually have friends in the water to surf with on the terrific waves that God so graciously dished up for the Labor Day Reunion Weekend.
And finally, now Laura realizes I am not alone in my “stoke” for surfing.  You are “my peoples.”
Cowabunga!

Lost & Found: I lost a beach towel from the Hawaiian Symphony. Never take it to the beach, I just grabbed it because it was handy when I ran out the door with my grandson. Corny, I know, but it has great sentimental value.
Thanks,
